Luke 5: 31 - 32

Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call righteous, but sinners, to repentance. CALLED BY THE PHYSICIAN The tax collector Levi answered the call to follow Jesus. Immediately he made a big meal for his new Master in his house. Everyone present was allowed to participate. It was not such a noble company coming together here; the Pharisees and the scribes contemptuously called them "tax collectors and sinners" and reproached Jesus' disciples. When Jesus heard this, He himself took the initiative to answer for his disciples.He did not evade the question. He did not distance Him self from the other guests, did not play down their character, but drew a comparison: just as it is not the healthy but the sick who need a doctor, so it is not the hypocrites and self-righteous who need Him as Savior, bur the sinners. It is just for them that He came. Such sinners He calls, like Levi, called to sit down at table. Jesus now calls to repentance, to faith. He wants to transform people. This change begins in the heart, with the sinner condemning his former way of life before God. This is repentance, and this is what Levi has just done. But now he lives in a completely different way; he now lives for Jesus Christ, and for those who still need Him as their Savior. Have we experienced this ourselves, this saving, healing, trasforming power of Jesus? If so, what are we doing so that others may still come to know Him, the Savior of the world?

Think about God, Make much of Him,till He broadens and fills the horizon of your faith. Then prayer will come into its marvelous inheritance of wonders. The marvels of prayer are seen when we remember that God's purposes are changed by prayer, God's vengeance is stayed by prayer, and God's penalty is remitted by prayer. The whole range of God's dealing with man is affected by prayer. Here is a force which must be increasingly used, that of prayer, a force to which all the events of life ought to be subjected. To "pray without ceasing," to pray in everything, and to pray everywhere--these commands of continuity are expressive of the sleepless energy of prayer, of the exhaustless possibilities of prayer, and of its exacting necessity. Prayer can do all things. Prayer must do all things. Prayer is asking God for something, and for something which He had promised. Prayer is using the divinely appointed means for obtaining what we need for accomplishing what God proposes to do on earth. Prayer is appointed to convey the blessings God designs to give; Long as they live should Christians pray, they learn to pray when first they live. And prayer brings to us blessings which we need, and which only God can give, and which prayer can alone convey to us. In their broadest fullness, the possibilities of prayer are to be found in the very nature of prayer. This service of prayer is not a mere rite, a ceremony through which we go, a sort of performance. Prayer is going to God for something needed and desired. Prayer is simply asking God to do for us what He has promised us He will do if we ask Him. The answer is a part of prayer and is God's part of it. God's doing the thing asked for is as much a part of the prayer as asking of the thing is prayer. Asking is man's part. Giving is God's part. The prayer belongs to us. The answer belongs to God.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God. Whenever we come in prayer to present our requests to God, Our Lord instrusts us to pause long enough to remember who He is: Our King, Our Righteousness. His word tells us of His Kingdom--the realm in which His servants' request are to be made. If we don't acknowledge who He is,prayer is not prayer at all. Instead, the recitation of our worries is simply an attempt to worry God. God is already aware of our needs. He wants us to think over what we ask from Him. Do not be satisfied with going over the same thing every day. No Child goes on saying the same thing day after day to his earthly father. Conversation with the father is coloured by the needs of the day. Let your prayer be something definite, rising out of the Word which you have read or out of the real soul--needs which you long to have satisfied. Let your prayer be so definite that you can say, I know what I asked for from my Father, and Iexpect an answer." It is a good plan sometimes to take a piece of paper and write down what you pray for.You might keep such a paper for a week or more and repeat the prayers until some need arises.

Prayer and Fasting by Andrew Murray

Jesus said unto them... Howbeit this Kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. (Matthew 17:20-21. Jesus teaches us that life of faith requires both prayer and fasting. Prayer grasps the power of heaven, fasting loosens the hold on earthly pleasure. Jesus Himself fasted to get strength to resist the devil.He taught His disciples that fasting should be in secret. and the Father would reward it openly. Abstinence from food, or moderation in taking it, helps to focus on communication with God. Let's remember that abstinence, moderation, and self denial are a help to the spiritual life. After having eaten a hearty meal, one does not feel much desire to pray. To willingly sacrifice our own pleasures or enjoyment will help to focus our minds more fully on God and His priorities. The very practice needed is overcoming our own desires will give strength to take hold of God in prayer. Our lack of discipline in prayer comes from our fleshy desires of comfort and ease. "And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts" (Galations 5: 24). Prayer is not easy work. For the real practice of prayer--taking hold of God and having communion and fellowship with Him-- it is necessary that our selfish desires be sacrificed. Isn't it worth the trouble to deny ourselves daily in order to meet the holy God and receive His blessings?

Washed Clean

I couldn't believe it.A blue gel pen had hidden itself in the folds of my white towels and survived the washing machine, only to explode in the dryer. Ugly blue stains were everywhere. My white towels were ruined. No amount of bleach would be able to remove the dark stains. As I reluctantly consigned the towels to the rag pile, I was reminded of the Old Testament prophet. Jeremiah's lament describing the damaging effects of sin. By rejecting God and turning to idols (Jeremiah 2:13), Jeremiah declared that the people of Israel had caused a permanent stain in their relationship with God: Although you wash yourself with soap and use an abundance of cleaning powder, the stain of your guilt is still before me,' declares the Sovereign Lord (V.22). They were powerless to undo the damage they'done. On our own, it is impossible to remove the stain of our sin, But Jesus Christ has done what we could not. Through the power of His death and resurrection, He "purifies (believers) from all sin" (1John 1:7) Even when it's hard to believe, cling to this beautiful truth: there's no damage from sin that Our Lord Jesus can't totally remove. God is willing and ready to wash away the effects of sin for anyone willing to return to Him (V,9). Through Christ, we can live each day in freedom and hope. Where do you go with your guilt? How might you live differently today knowing that Jesus's death has the power to completely remove the guilt and "stain of your sins? " Jesus's blood washes away sin's stain

Judas Iscariot was one of the Twelve Apostles. He is notorious for betraying Jesus by disclosing Jesus' whereabouts for 30 pieces of silver. Judas brought men to arrest Jesus and identified him with a kiss. Jesus was then arrested, tried, and executed. we have to do soul searching whether we are betraying Our Lord Jesus in our Churches by getting annointed Rev's removed at a drop of a hat just because we don't feel comfortable with what he is preaching or his activities, we are too much in a hurry to complain without proper evidence. We have to think what will Jesus do? For what measures we use it will be measured back to us in full measure. For the Bible states that Jesus Christ will be returning as King of Kings and a judge of the whole world, so everything that is done in the dark will come to light. Our we taking our responsibility seriously as stewards who should be involved in prayers and leading the weak in faith to Christ Jesus. What examples are we setting as Christians, Is it the larger part of the congregation of our churches that find favour in de-

cision making, or do even a single individuals voice is taken into account. Remember Jesus Christ had a large following for the miracles he performed, but at the end his crucifixion, he was sadly alone. Our Lord won the battle alone by His resurrection. And He paid the price for our sins and even at this very moment we keep on crucifing Him again and again. For we have wolves in sheep clothing among us, watch and pray that we don't follow blindly. Request our Lord Jesus to lead us and provide wisdom so that we dont fall into a trap set for us. Amen

Founder, T Stanes & Company; industrialist; educationalist. Spouse Harriet Huntingdon Harris Stanes was born in Aldgate, London, the eighth of nine children of James Stanes (12 March 1796 – 3 February 1880) and Sarah Poultney Stanes (née Worth; 26 April 1806 – 15 July 1843). James Stanes was a glass and china shipping merchant who established the Stanes' presence in India by sending several of his sons to the country. In 1848, James Stanes junior (1830–1852), the second son, arrived in southern India and established the Runnymede Coffee Estate near Coonoor in Madras Presidency. He was drowned in May 1852 while traveling near Kulhutty. Later that year, following the death of James Stanes junior, William Henry Stanes (12 May 1826 – 31 January 1865), his eldest brother, was sent to India. He was followed by the fourth son, Thomas Stanes (6 January 1837 – 30 January 1905), who arrived at Madras on the SS Hindustan on 26 June 1855. James Stanes senior visited his sons William and Thomas in Madras Presidency in 1855, accompanied by his third son, Henry Thomas Stanes (1835–1917), who ran the London end of the family's businesses. The greatest impact in India was made by Robert Stanes, the youngest son, who arrived in India on 24 December 1858 on his father's ship the SS Trafalgar while still a boy of seventeen.[citation needed] Robert immediately launched himself on a successful career as a coffee planter in Coimbatore. Five years later he established the first inland coffee-curing plant in India, In 1885, Stanes & Co went out of business. Stanes recalled that "the firm suffered great losses and Messrs Stanes Watson failed in business, which led to the collapse of my firm. I had to begin all over again, all that I had was 500 rupees" (about £40 at that date). Failure in business was at that time a disgrace and Robert Stanes's son, Fred, who was five at the time, remembered both the shame and also having to return to England on a cargo boat. Stanes wrote that "my dear wife endured it all without a murmur and with the greatest patience". He started again and the business again prospered. By the time of his death he owned cotton mills, coffee and tea plantations, coffee curing plants, motor works and tire retreading plants; Coimbatore is still a major industrial city today, largely through Stanes's contribution.[citation needed] When Coimbatore City Council was formed, he became chairman. He set up the Stanes School in the city in 1862. Our Father (The Lords Prayer 🙏)

Here is how it breaks down. “Our Father in heaven” is teaching us whom to address our prayers to—the Father. “Hallowed be your name” is telling us to worship God, and to praise Him for who He is. The phrase “your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” is a reminder to us that we are to pray for God’s plan in our lives and the world, not our own plan. … We are encouraged to ask God for the things we need in “give us today our daily bread.” “Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors” reminds us to confess our sins to God and to turn from them, and also to forgive others as God has forgiven us. The end of the Lord’s Prayer asks God to give human beings the strength to overcome the devil’s schemes.

The Objective of God's Discipline:- We read that Manasseh provoked the Lord to anger. We too can sometimes provoke Him: "Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He: (1Cor.10:22). As a child of God, if we believe like those who are without hope and without God,the discipline of our God and Father will also come upon us, and His discipline has a specific purpose: it is so that we partake of His holiness (Heb.12:10) We see a positive illustration of this in the life of Manassesh, who was exercised by God's discipline. The Lord first took the time to speak the king and the people, but unfortunately "they would not listen (2Chr.33:10). So He spoke a second time more severely by using the king of Assyria to capture and bring Manasseh in bronze chains to Babylon. There, in his distress, "he implored the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before (God)" (v.12), And, let us notice it carefully, God "received his entreaty, heard his supplication" (v.13). This shows us two things: --Firstly, that Manassesh's sin was really, really bad. He provoked the Lord, and the judgment that will come later on the kingdom is in part attributed to Manasseh's evil deeds (2Ki.24:3), --Second, that when God says He is "compassionate and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in faithfulness and truth" (Ex.34:6 NASB), it is really, really true. If like Manasseh, being under God's discipline, we understand our faults and "confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to clense us from all unrighteousness" (1Jn.1:9). Is there any sin too great that He cannot forgive? No, and we have the proof of this in Manasseh. The fruits of God's discipline is restoration and fellowship with Himself. What a blessing it is for us! Amen

The Our Father Explained

Explanation "Our Father": This phrase expresses a new relationship with God, where people are God's children and God is their Father. "Hallowed be thy name": This phrase asks God to be worshipped and honored above all else. "Thy kingdom come": This phrase invites God's will into the world and asks God to be in control. "Give us this day our daily bread": This phrase asks God for daily needs. "Forgive us our debts": This phrase asks God for forgiveness. We have to forgive before we receive Gods forgiveness "Lead us not into temptation": This phrase asks God to protect people from temptation. "Deliver us from evil": This phrase asks God to deliver people from evil.

No Commonplace tameneness should restrain our largest asking. large, larger, and largest asking magnifies grace and adds to God's glory. why is it that prayer and intercession with God are not a greater joy and delight? One answer to this question undoubtedly is: We know God too little. In our prayer, His presence is not the chief thing our heart is seeking. And yet it should be, Often when we pray, we think mostly of ourselves, our needs, our desires, But we forget that in every prayer, God must be first, must be all. So how is one to attain this nearness to God and fellowship with Him? The answer is simple; We must give God time to make Himself Known to us. Believe with your whole heart, that just as you present yourself to God as a suppplicant, so God presents Himself to you as the hearer of prayers. But you cannot realize this unless you give Him time and quiet. It is not in the multitude or the earnestness of your words in which prayer has its power. Your prayer has its power in the living faith that God Himself is taking you and your prayer into His loving heart. He Himself will give assurance that in His time your prayer will be heard. Begin your day with these words: " Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul". My soul thirsteth for God, for the Living God"

Jesus says to his disciples,"My peace I give to you". What is peace? Peace is always connected with war. People think, where there is no war, there is peace. Peace is more than having no war. The absence if war does not necessarily provide peace. It has both inner and outer aspects. Inner peace of mind. Outer good relations. Peaceful co-existence with one another. The Hebrew concept "Shalom", also "Salam" in Arabic, "Shanthi", mean "wholeness" or "welfare". Someone said, "we don't need graveyard peace". But what we need is dynamic peaceful co-existence. That's why World Council of Churches have been advocating, "Peace with Justice". In the ancient church, people greeted oneanother with a sign of peace. Later it came to be known as "Kiss of Peace". It was long forgotten but revived by the Church of South India in its liturgy, deeply appreciated by the Church of England. In most of the American Churches, there is greeting oneanother at the beginning or in the middle of the service. Sometimes, the whole worship atmosphere and its solemnity is lost in this exercise. What we need today is the peace of mind, heart and soul. Where can we get and who can give? Peace is associated with wellbeing. If we are well in body, mind and soul, then we have peace. Jesus is speaking about this "Eirene", peace and well being inspite of our situation. "Blessed are the peace makers, for they shall be called the children of God". As long as there is war, somewhere in the world, it is a blot on human wisdom. We might reach out to the heavens, but if we cannot live in peace on earth, what does it matter? Everyone is a visitor and Pilgrim on earth. We should learn to live and let others live too. Many of our churches are ridden with complex problems. People go to civil courts for redressel. There is no one answer. The answer is blowing in the wind by the Holy Spirit. The wind blows where it wills. Political peace, economic well being and equal sharing of earth's resources, can bring stable peace. Let us work towards living in peace and also allowing others to live in peace. "God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself". When God could do this, why not we do it to oneanother? Amen. If you are at peace with yourself, then share that peace with the congregation. If you are not at peace, allow someone who has achieved that peace to proclaim it. We cannot preach peace and and at the sametime at war/enemity with one another. Christ Jesus as Intercessor Hebrews 7 : 25. Luke 22:32 Like 23:34 Andrew Murray

He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. In His life on earth Christ Jesus began His work as Intercessor. Think of the high priestly prayer on behalf of His disciples and of all those who would believe in His name through them. Think of his words to Peter, "I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not". A proof of how intensely personal His intercession is. And on the cross He spoke as Intercessor: " Father, forgive them". Now that he is seated at God's right hand, He continues, as our great High Priest, the work of intercession without ceasing. Yet He gives His people power to take part in it. Seven times in His farewell discourse He (Lord Jesus) repeated the assurance that He would do what they asked. The power of heaven was to be at the disciples disposal. God waited for the disciples to ask for his grace and power.Through the leading of the Holy Spirit they would know what the will of God was. They would learn in faith to pray in His name. He would present their requests to the Father, and through united intercession the church would be clothed with the power of the Holy spirit.

Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power. . .there is nothing too hard for thee. . . Behold,I am the Lord . . .is there any thing too hard for me? Beware, in your prayer, above everything, of limiting God, only by unbelief, but fancying that you know what He can do. Expect unexpected things above all that we ask or think. Each time you intercede, be quiet first and worship God in His glory. Think of what He can do, of How He delights to hear Christ Jesus, of your place in Christ Jesus; and expect great things.

One Inlet of Power Holy Spirit S.D. Gordon

There is one inlet of power in the life--the Holy Spirit. He is power. He is in everyone who opens his doors to God. He eagerly enters every open door. He comes in by our invitation and consent. His presence within is vital thing. But with many of us, while He is inside, He is not in control. He is inside as a guest, not as host. He is hindered in His natural movements so that He cannot do what he wants. And so we are not conscious or only partially conscious of His presence. And others are less so. But to yield to his mastery, to cultivate His friendship, to give him full sway--that will result in what is called power.

In its simplest meaning, prayer has to do with a conflict. It is the deciding factor in a spirit conflict. The scene of the conflict is the earth. The purpose of the conflict is to decide the control of the earth and its inhabitants. The conflict runs back into the misty ages of the creation time. The righful prince of the earth is Jesus Christ, the King's Son. There is a pretender prince who was once rightful prince. He was guilty of a breach of trust. But like King Saul, after his rejection and David's anointing in his place, he has been and is trying his best to hold the realm and oust the rightful ruler. The rightful Prince is seeking by utterly different means--namely, persuasion--to win the world back to its first allegiance. He had a fierce run-in with the pretender, and after a series of victories won the great victory of the resurrection morning. There is one peculiarity of this conflict that makes its different from all others: a decided victory and the utter vanquishing of the leading general has not stopped the war. And the reason is remarkable . The Victor has a deep love-ambition to not merely beat the enemy but win mens's hearts, by their free consent. And so,with marvelous love born of wisdom and courage, the conflict is left open, for men's sake.

Good evening to all. Today's theme in CSI almanac is One Baptism The message might have been delivered in all CSI churches. Here is an issue on the title of Baptism UTC thelogians and other Scholars may be

enlighten. MODE OF BAPTISM. Of course the mode of Baptism is no longer an issue in CSI. We administer both infant and adult Sprinkling and Immersion Baptism. But only one Baptism no second Baptism. That is the discipline of the church in CSI. For few occasion I administered immersion Baptism depending on the will of those who were to be baptized. Now the point is Still the people are in dilemma and on the crossroads about the mode of Baptism I have known people of CSI members who have taken second Baptism happens to be immersion secretly. Little confusion on the kind of Baptism even today. Sectarian groups Pentacostal churches insist immersion Baptism though it could be second time of Baptism. Why this confusion and wrong doctrine on this sacrament. Catholic Church not administering immersion Baptism . Why this confusion on the mode of Baptism?. Because the Gospel writers did not narrate clearly on the mode of Baptism. Neither Luke in ACTS of the apostles. ... He came out of water.... it was not clear whether after dropping into thecwater or after sprinkling or pouring as catholic Church depicted in statue form in many churches and on the stain glass at the Altar both Protestant and catholic churches Pastors and even theoligians are playing with the word Baptism in Greek interpretation as dipping into so on so forth..... But scripture.is not confirming or ascertain that in his statement. Recently I had a conversation with a research scholar and pastor.He said In the early version bof the gospel. The second part of the verse Matthew 28-19 in the name of the father son and HolySpirit baptise...is not found. That means it makes us to think that baptism is not Paramount for conversion through it is the sign of entry into Christian faith or religion. Perhaps transformation of life is more important they might have thought so.
